Tokamachi: A Town of Rich Nature, Culture and Industry

Long ago in Tokamachi, people lived their lives in harmony with the natural landscape. This relationship became the basis for a unique industry and culture. Tokamachi's seasonal climate has always been perfect for cultivating an exceptional rice harvest, and the snowfall provides an ideal environment for textile production. As time has gone on, techniques and tradition have been nurtured over the years, and Tokamachi, while entering the 21st century, still retains the nostalgic appeal of the traditional Japanese rural landscape; time seems to flow at a slower pace here when compared to the frantic hustle and bustle of the modern city. For the traveler wishing to relax and wind down: Tokamachi is the ideal travel destination.
